Hermosa Beach ROV Survey
Service: Environmental Assessments
In support of the installation of the SEA-US fiber optic cable route, AMS scientists conducted a seafloor habitat and marine taxa characterization survey along a 12-kilometer coastal segment of the proposed cable route using a remotely operated vehicle (ROV). Final study results and seafloor maps were provided to the City of Hermosa Beach; AMS’ client, ICF International; and the California Coastal Commission for use in the issuing a coastal use permit. In addition, AMS marine scientists prepared a white paper presenting information from multiple coastal habitat and marine community surveys conducted by SCUBA, ROV and manned submersibles for previous fiber optic cable installations, regional surveys, and monitoring programs.
