AMS provided on-call support to the Bay Area Stormwater Management Agencies Association in implementation of an EPA Water Quality Improvement Fund grant to assist stormwater management agencies in meeting TMDL pollutant reduction targets. For this effort, AMS managed the monitoring efforts that were assessing pollutant removal efficiencies of various low impact development (LID) designs that were incorporated into the urban landscape. Nine treatment projects were developed through project implementation, which incorporated a variety of vegetative, media, and flow management options in their design. Monitoring locations were targeted for areas expected to be associated with elevated concentrations of priority pollutants (mercury and PCBs). Results of the investigation were used to inform planning purposes for future LID efforts.
