Steelhead Restoration in Alameda Creek Watershed
Service: Fisheries Investigations

AMS provided technical and administrative support to a workgroup investigating the feasibility of restoring a historic steelhead run to Alameda Creek, the largest local watershed draining to San Francisco Bay. As part of its responsibilities, AMS facilitated all activities of the workgroup, representing a wide variety of interests in the watershed (e.g., environmental, flood control, water supply). AMS also conducted field assessments and produced an analysis of steps required to facilitate restoration of a viable steelhead run. Based upon this analysis, the workgroup pursued and obtained several million dollars in federal, state, and local funding to support restoration projects.
